About Joss Bay Beach

Situated below the North Foreland Lighthouse, this is a lovely sandy beach in a natural setting. It is ideal for families with plenty for the children to explore. The bay was named after Joss Snelling, the notorious smuggler and head of the Callis Court Gang, who was fined £100 for smuggling at the age of 89! Joss Bay is a sandy beach, backed by low cliffs, with rocks at either end of the break. It is currently awarded a Blue Flag.

This popular beach is located just outside the town of Broadstairs on the coastal road between Viking Bay and Botany Bay.

Surfing is the primary sport here and the beach boasts it's very own surf school. During the summer, the beach can get very busy. It also has a great kids play area and a well equipped shop and beach café. There are lifeguards on duty during the summer months.

There are signposted coastal walks or cycle rides from the beach.

Pay and display parking for 200 cars is available at the top of the cliffs and the beach is accessible for people with disabilities.
