OUTSIDE THE SQUARE is a new Art Gallery in Old Town Margate. Situated next to the Tourist Information centre and virtually opposite the new £20M Turner Contemporary the gallery currently has 304 original exhibits constituting 75 committed artists from 18 different countries all over the world .This gives visitors access to original art otherwise not available anywhere else in the UK.
Aside from the Turner Contemporary, Outside The Square is the largest Art Gallery in Kent and is positioned conveniently opposite the Turner Contemporary in Duke Street. It is modern, tastefully decorated with white light illumination, high ceilings , freshly gibbed and painted white walls with original brick interior with wooden floors on two levels within the old town with cobbled streets adjacent to an upmarket restaurant, pubs,cafes and other smaller boutique type galleries and art related shops such as framers etc.
On display is work from UK and Irish artists that have previously exhibited in The Tate (Liverpool), The Tate Modern, The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Academy (RA) ,The RBA, ROI, RHA, NAPA and The Royal Society Of Marine Painters (RSMA). Amongst these world renowned artists they have Christian Furr who is the youngest person ever to have painted the Queen at Buckingham Palace (National Portrait Gallery)
Ideally suited to attract the right demographic from London , Europe and beyond, and with an incentive to visit the arts focused location and summer resort based on the new developments in Margate including the new Turner Contemporary Gallery. The projection is for between 150 - 270,000 visitors a year.
